The life and work of a corrections officer can be extremely taxing. Each officer must have the ability to tolerate confinement and routine as well as manipulation, provocation and the potential for violence, both witnessed and experienced. The officer must have the social facility to be able to interact with inmates in courteous, respectful ways while carefully observing boundaries and ready to exert appropriate controls as necessary. The corrections officer must have the interpersonal skill to interact well with fellow officers and the command staff in a manner which contributes to the esprit de corps of the group and which inspires confidence and cooperation. There must be a commitment to professional demeanor on duty and, in order to fulfill the ambassadorial function of the position, while off duty as well.

It is crucial to have personnel who are psychologically qualified to do this job at the highest level of excellence, given the inherent demands. Psychological screenings that are conducted with those demands in mind enables the right people to be selected for these important positions.

In addition, our fit-for-duty assessments and individually tailored training programs insure that, once on the job, your corrections officers have the help they need to resolve problems and advance professionally.
