Issue-specific training can be vital when a chief, director or administrator seeks to provide substantive help to an employee who presents problematic behavior which may be detrimental for the employee, as well as the agency and public that the employee serves.
After a referral request is discussed with the referring agency’s representative, the appropriate Chandler Psychological Services staff will gather information from the organization’s administration. The individual(s) of concern will meet with a clinical staff member to tell his/her story. Chandler Psychological Services will then construct an individualized training program proposal for submission. Psychological testing may be conducted to provide a profile of the officer’s areas of strength and susceptibility.
In addition to continual focus on understanding “the issues” prompting the problem, the individual(s) will be assisted in the practice of the strategies and techniques for effective resolution. This may include such trainings as conflict resolution negotiation, anger management strategizing, professional image development, task focusing, and other program training dependent upon the problematic issue.
