An organizational assessment is a comprehensive analysis of a department organization’s functioning and professional health.
An organizational assessment is recommended when an organization is evidencing behavior which signals the existence of a potentially serious problem, which may compromise the effectiveness of the organization’s mission, as well as its credibility within its community. These might include: an inordinate number of complaints by various sectors of the community regarding the conduct of the organization’s officers or administration; legal action against an officer(s) or administration for alleged criminal activity; noteworthy unprofessional conduct by more than one officer and/or administrator representing possible impairment of judgment or personality; continued intra-departmental strife in the form of excessive grievance, union and “no confidence” activity.
An organizational assessment can also be of benefit to a well-functioning organization seeking to further improve upon its overall effectiveness, construct an action plan for long term growth, and to develop and implement new program initiatives.
The Chandler Psychological Services Team includes senior police, fire, corrections, employee assistance specialists, government administrators, and mental health professionals representing years of experience.
A Chandler Psychological Services project leader will meet with all appropriate agency representatives to conduct initial discussions of concerns. Formulation of an assessment plan will be subsequently made. That plan may include multilevel interviews, questionnaires, psychological testing, document review, and site analysis. The plan will be submitted with cost and time estimates.
